TRY DETERMINATIONThe truth about life, is that it's easier to go down a tall mountain than up it, but the view from the top is much better.
Adminstrators and leaders must realize and understand the over all picture in life and the limitations of humans. The conversations you have with people under your supervision may be a life saving one. Comparisons of you and other administrators and presidents, will reveal different approaches to accomplishing similar goals.
These are three ways to be more open to criticism. As leaders, accept criticism, but don't ever forget to object when criticism is directed at you, rather than at what you do. Tell scolders that you'll respond much better to a rejection of your behavior than an attack on your person. Share your perception of the situation after the criticism has been delivered. Acknowledge the extent of your agreement with the comments, and point out your disagreement. Supply facts to correct inaccuracies, asserting your opinions firmly yet without annoyance. Now I know you are doing this but make it less personal and more general for all situations. Suggest a plan for corrective action that satisfies both of you. Learn whatever lesson this confrontation has taught you and move on to the next one. Don't let the thought of the old confrontations get you down and out, move on.
